Paul Yerger built Big Valley by hand outside Newberry in 1968, and the little family hill opened for the 1969–70 winter in Michigan’s eastern Upper Peninsula. Two rope tows serve a short slope ideal for beginners, young snowboarders and tubing, in moose country near Tahquamenon Falls.
