Above Monticello in the southern Catskills, Holiday Mountain opened as a Town of Thompson ski area in 1957, and a local whose family once sold the land to the town bought and revived it in 2023. Night skiing, snow tubing, the Independence Terrain Park and autumn foliage chairlift rides round out the year.
