Up a long gravel road near Woss on northern Vancouver Island, Mount Cain is the island’s only community-owned ski hill, run by a non-profit society and a crew of volunteers. Two T-bars reach deep snow and steep terrain, the lifts usually turn on weekends, and rustic on-mountain cabins complete the throwback feel.
