In the San Gabriel Mountains above Los Angeles, Mt Baldy has been running since 1952 and still feels like a throwback: four chairs, natural terrain and steep chutes such as Nightmare and the South Bowl Chutes. The main chair rides up to the Top of the Notch lodge, and the rest of the mountain opens when the snow allows.
